The Alec Project Launches to Allow Everyone to Live without Limitations

Organization will focus on accessibility advocacy, media representation, and helping individuals with mobility devices

The Alec Project, a groundbreaking nonprofit organization dedicated to making the world more accessible and welcoming for people with disabilities, is proud to announce its official launch. Founded by Alec Cabacungan, a renowned advocate for disability rights and the face of Shriners Children’s commercials, The Alec Project aims to create a world where everyone, regardless of their medical condition, can live without limitations.

The Alec Project is committed to identifying accessible public spaces, uplifting and amplifying disabled voices in the media, and providing custom-fit mobility aids to young adults who need them. The organization’s goal is to ensure that people with disabilities feel seen, heard, and empowered to live their lives to the fullest.

“When I studied at Northwestern, I wasn’t able to have the same college experience as everyone because of dangerous sidewalks, lack of elevators, and basic lack of access. I hope that one day someone else can,” said Cabacungan, founder of the Alec Project. “This is a nationwide problem.”

While laws like the Americans with Disability Act apply to new buildings, there is no requirement that older buildings fit these requirements. As a result, critical facilities are off limits to the one in 14 Americans who find walking difficult or impossible.

Alec’s work has taken him to national platforms such as FOX, CBS, ESPN, and NBA on TNT, where he continues to advocate for inclusion in sports, media, and beyond.
